Ordinary repairs definition
/What are Ordinary Repairs?
Ordinary repairs are expenditures for repairs that do not prolong the life of an asset or increase its usefulness. These expenditures are charged to expense as incurred. If they had instead met one or both of the preceding criteria, repairs would be capitalized and charged to expense over time. Ordinary repairs tend to be lower-cost items.
Examples of Ordinary Repairs
Here are several examples of ordinary repairs:
Office repairs. Fixing a leaking faucet, touching up the paint on walls, and fixing loose carpet.
Equipment maintenance. Repairing office chairs, servicing copiers, and replacing broken keyboards.
Property upkeep. Unclogging drains, patching roof leaks, and cleaning gutters.
Technology repairs. Updating software, repairing cables, and fixing broken phone lines.
Customer-facing repairs. Touching up signs and replacing damaged shelves.
