/What is an Inactive Employee?
An inactive employee is an individual whose employment has not been terminated and yet is not currently rendering any services to the employer. This individual is expected to return to work.
Examples of Inactive Employees
The following are examples of inactive employees:
Employees on disability leave. This can be an extended leave, depending on the nature of the underlying medical condition.
Employees on maternity leave. This is typically a period of from one to six months, depending on company policy.
Employees on medical leave. This can be an extended leave, depending on the nature of the underlying medical condition.
Employees on jury duty. This is typically a short leave, depending on the length of the jury trial that the person is attending.
Employees on military service leave. This can be an extended leave, perhaps covering one or two years.
